Local Gomeroi artist Hailah Peters Limerick was commissioned to produce “Healing Journeys”

“It tells the story of two women sitting around a gathering circle. The gathering circle is made up of many other people who all share the common place to meet. It shows the individual journeys of the two women and all the smaller communities they are both a part of. It pays tribute to healing, learning and sitting around yarning. Rivers run through the picture and connect all the meeting places to each other. It shows the connection between people and being on and caring for country. Bandaar (Kangaroo) tracks can be seen as they follow the rivers and pass through communities. It shows the importance of the land, the animals, the sky, the sea and people. I love telling stories through my art, and Aboriginal storytelling is the longest continuing culture in the world. I acknowledge the indigenous peoples of country, past, present and emerging”
